FM-200 gas is composed of fluor hydrogen that is odorless and colorless and is not a conductor of electricity. It is used to extinguish fires through a combination of chemical and physical mechanisms, but it works without affecting the oxygen available in the area. Which allows everyone in the fire area to see and breathe well and leave the fire area safely, for this reason, everyone relies on FM-200 gas to extinguish the fire because it does not lack visibility and does not have any smell or any toxic smoke that causes suffocation of those in the fire area, and it is also authorized in use, especially in crowded areas, and is characterized by its speed in extinguishing the fire, as after using it only ten seconds, the fire is extinguished. The FM200 concentration for each facility is determined according to the level of protection required and is usually between 6% and 7% and is determined according to hydraulic calculations and engineering design.
Advantages of using FM-200 gas in fire extinguishing:
- FM-200 gas takes up very little storage space like a halon extinguisher.
- FM-200 gas never needs to be cleaned after being used to extinguish fire.
- FM-200 gas is safe in all respects and can be used in crowded areas.
FM200 Gas Fire Extinguishing System Components:
- FM200 gas cylinder: The cylinder size is determined according to the need of the room to be extinguished (and there are cylinders of different sizes) by hydraulic calculations and according to the NFPA code.
- Pipe network for gas discharge: The pipe network of different diameters is determined according to the engineering design and hydraulic calculations, which determine the number of nozzles in the room according to the NFPA code.
- Fire extinguishing panel and sensors: It is responsible for receiving the signal from the detectors and sending it to the solenoid to complete the discharge process.
- Smoke and heat detectors: which give an alarm signal to the control panel.
- Sarina, fire alarm bell and manual breaker.
- Network of wires and conduits for alarm.
